Weekly checklist for tower crane operator

Submitted weekly every Friday, or when the assignment is completed.




    1.1 Daily visual check of the following equipment, listen for any noises / look for changes

    -hoisting rope and pulleys
    -trolley rope and pulleys
    -trolley w / main rollers and side rollers
    -rope end mount on hoisting rope
    -hook block w / locking lip and swivel
    -brake function test / control at hoist, trolley and slewing motor(s)
    -function test / control of limit switches




    1.2 Foundations and undercarriage/bottom junction (check for settlements, damage and deformations)

    1.3 Steel structure undercarriage/bottom junction and crane tower (check for damage and deformations, also railings and walkways)

    1.4 Power supply cable and main power switch (check cable relief and for any rubbing damages)

    1.5 Central greasing system (check grease level and for leakage at hoses and connections)

    1.6 Slewing ring bearing (visual check bolts and nuts, check / grease slewing ring tooths and pinions)

    1.7 Electrical control cabinet (check that doors are properly closed, check for damages and traces of overheating)

    1.8 Hoist winch (check for oil leakages / oil level and condition of hoist rope on drum, damages, and layers)

    1.9 Trolley winch (check for oil leakages / oil level and condition of trolley rope on drum, damages, and layers)

    1.10 Railing and walkways counter jib and slewing part (check for damages, deformations and loose equipment)

    1.11 Jib – steel structure and walkways (check for damages, changes, and deformations)

    1.12 Documentation (operator manual and certificates annual inspection for crane and lifting equipment)

    1.13 Status extra equipment if mounted – air traffic warning lights, boom lights, camera, flagpole, signs (check for damages and deformations, look after loose equipment laying on platforms etc.)

    1.14 Crane in weathervane position according to operator’s manual at end of shift. Camera turned off.

    1.15 Operators cabin locked after end of shift. Keys in key box.
